Statement of Support Iranian Peaceful Movement, From UVic Electrical & Computer Eng. Students
We, the Electrical and Computer Engineering Graduate Representative Executive Committee, in our capacity to represent the over one hundred Electrical and Computer Engineering graduate students at the University of Victoria would like to join the student groups acrossour globe in voicing our support for the students in Iran who are feeling betrayed and are performing a legal and silent demonstration against the regime for the election results. The violence, terror and repression that Iranian regime is inflicting upon this peaceful movement: attacking people in the streets, invading students dorms at nights and incurring injury upon many students, killing people by gun fire, detaining reformist political activists, journalists, bloggers and torturing them into confession of a "planned a coup d'etat", must be condemned. No people in any nation on our planet can enjoy true freedom anddemocracy while we witness, in graphic detail, the brutal denial of these rights to our brothers and sisters in another nation.
